You said you do your own oil changes, have you been swapping out the crush washers?
I notice when I don't, and I push the engine hard I can smell it burning, and have determined it's coming from the drain plug. It's a small leak, but it's enough to smell bad and annoy me, so ever since I determined that I use crush washers as silly as they sound.

I think he's refering to the pedal that controls the parking brake in cars that dont have them on the console like Accords do. Go check out a Crown Vic or Taurus with collume shift, for example.
It would be best, in my opinion, to stop by a shop when you smell the burning smell. Just pull up to one of the bays and ask the mechanic's opinion. They'll probably take a look under the hood and give you an idea without charging you anything. They will most likely be able to tell what it is by the specific smell (for instance, oil burning smells a lot different than an electrical or plastic burning).
