2013 Accord problems with nav. and blutooth
TomLil23 it sounds like you are having the same built-in issues as everyone else. Bothersome part is that Honda has evidently been aware of this for some time and yet they are still selling cars with the known problem. Evidently from some of the recent posts there is a software update that has now become available to address these issues. Jury seems to be out as to whether it will provide a long term fix. I would suggest you contact your dealer immediately and complain.
Even before the update I noticed much better sound with CDs, CDs ripped to Hard Drive, and music from my iPhone when it is plugged in (not bluetooth). I am new to XM in my own car but even with other cars I have rented I was never impressed with sound quality coming from XM, which I attributed to their compression in order to squeeze as many channels into their bandwidth range as they can.
Honda installed the software patch last Thursday. Like a lot of you I had real problems with the quality of the prem sound system. I enjoy classical pipe organ and before the patch the low freq. notes were not there. I can now here as much as can be expected from the low quality subwoofer. I have a feeling they did something with the white noise generator because I think I can here a little more road noise. The power of the amp did not change. I still have to turn it up to the top limit to enjoy the music.
I never had any problems with nav system except for the extream poor functioning of the system. Incorrect trivel times, a 4 mile route that could have been made in 1 or 2 miles, no turn around recal. if turn was missed. As I said before, I had a $200 dash mounted unit that work much better and had a lot more functions. Nothing has changed with the Nav. system. Another thing I reported that when I contacted Honda about the Nav. system she said Honda was not responseable for the system and gave me the number of the company that made it. I called the co. and was told they only made the maps and Honda was the one to see for the operating system.
My biggest problem was the blutooth and how it would lockup the system, not make calls and not receive calls. So far so good. I have had one occurance where I tried to make a call, it did not go through but my phone was locked up. I have a Verizon Razor and I am not sure if it was the car or the phone that messed up.
The back-up camera is working OK.
The system is still very slow to respond so I guess no changes were made to the speed of the computer.
Bottom line, I still think for what we paid the over all system and components are cheaply designed and made. The options are obviously there for eye appeal and not function but at least the systen has been working fairly well for two days.

Good morning everyone!
I am new to this forum, and I am also a new 2013 Honda Accord V6 EX-L owner. I picked the vehicle up from my dealership On Monday evening (3/4/13). As of this morning, I have had three "issues" that have really confused me and annoyed me. I am hoping someone here can help with a diagnosis or problem solution. Based on what I have been reading, I think I might be on the right track. My issues are as follows:
1. The touch screen was "frozen" and none of the buttons were working. I ended up shutting the car off and turning it back on, and the problem went away.
2. Two days later, I heard a digital static noise in the background music of Pandora. I thought maybe it was only on Pandora, and changed the source to FM, AM, and XM. All of these sources also had the static sound. Again, I turned my car off and back on, and the problem went away.
3. Finally, this morning I was driving to work. My touch screen turned on with the car, and the previous radio station I was listening to when I last drove was playing. I tried changing the station with the steering wheel buttons, and those did not work. I tried changing the source with the steering wheel buttons too, and that did not work. I then tried making a phone call with the steering wheels button, and none of the phone controls worked either. To troubleshoot, I tried placing a phone call by actually using my iPhone, and when I hung up after the call, all of the previously listed problems went away. It almost seems as though I knocked a loose wire or something.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Someone made a comment about Honda knowing about the problems and still producing the car. After being in the automotive ind. for 30+ years I will just about guarantee you that Honda was aware of the problems before it was released for production but with Nissan releasing the new 2013 Altema, Honda released the Accord anyway and chose to deal with the issue later and we got screwed.
I just made a couple of comments above and then I went back and read some of the latest owners inputs about problems. I think Honda released the car knowing the issues were there but underestimated the reaction they would get from the customers.
The sad thing is I love most everything about the car, I love driving the car and I hope the patch I just got will make all the systems functional. The problem, it won't make the systems cutting edge and that is what I expected from Honda and paid for.

It is hard to quantify, and I am no audio expert, but I immediately noticed a "wider" sound with some of my music, and it sounded louder and more dynamic. That is about as specific as I can get. It also reset the whole system so part of the difference could have been the changes in the audio settings I had before the update.
Even before the update I noticed much better sound with CDs, CDs ripped to Hard Drive, and music from my iPhone when it is plugged in (not bluetooth). Immediate improvement in audio quality.
1. Bass is much more powerful
2. Dynamic range has improved
3. Volume level 15 is now as loud as level 20 was before the patch
So far no lockups with any cameras (coming out of rear view camera used to lock the screen up before the patch).
Dimming feature seems to work properly now, before sometimes the radio would be dim without me dimming it.
Aha and Pandora sound great. Improved speed on touch screen for Aha.
Still does not automatically read SMS texts - it will download them but i have to do it manually (i think its limitation of Samsung S3)
Other than that, the patch is a godsend. The radio that should have been working as intended when I purchased it in November - (only 4 months later!!!)
Got fix yesterday morning, first in line at 7am.

I had the patch installed today. My problems are worse than most because my Nav system doesn't work most of the time. I have a separate thread on that one.

Sadly the problem has gotten worse after the patch and my Nav just goes into an endless reboot cycle. I think I'll probably need a new unit. I'll post a follow up video to that thread.
Glad to hear others are having better luck.
