Hi all,
I got a message from my service manager Friday asking me to schedule a time to bring my car in. A Honda engineer had called him and said Honda had a patch to fix my Audio problem. I'm not sure which problems they are talking about but I guess I will find out. My biggest issue is with the Nav. systerm but I don't think that is a software issue, it just appears to be an old outdated system.
Gyrobo, please let us know if you still have unverified and pink streets when they replace your system.
It is starting to sound like Honda is getting the message but I still don't understand how a vehicle with all these problems and outdated systems got releaced for production in the first place.

Hi DisneyEcho,
Be very careful when you decide to buy your new 2013 Accord if Nav. is important. It was to me and I assumed it would be at least as good as my 'sit on the dash' unit and it is not by a long shot. My problems are not software but old outdated technology. Old maps, roads labeled 'unvarified', nondigitized and shown in pink. The names of the roads are there but the nav. system does not use them for routing when they would be the shortest or fastest route and it has nothing to do with how you select the settings ( fastest vs. shortest ). Also time remaining must be calculated at a constant speed and not real time speed because it is never right but it is always 0 min. when I get to the destination. I was 100 miles from home on I-40, it showed 3.17 hours remaining and I was doing 70 - 75 mph.

I would probably recommend not getting the Nav in the 2013 Accord simply for the fact that for $2k, any smart phone or cheap portable nav will do just as well. Seeing that NAV doesnt add any other real tangible features, and it does not work that well, save the money. In Acura's, it takes going to a Tech package to get Nav and then it adds lots of other features including upgraded audio, but Honda does not do the same.

I was perusing other forums and this is hardly an isolated problem. So many people are experiencing all the same issues, poor sound, that static sound that requires the car to be shut off to end it, locking up. Fix this issue already Honda!!!

Sorry for posting so much, but geez this is so frustrating. I hate listening to music in my car because it sounds so bad!

Don, please let us know as soon as possible once they "patch" your system. I'm really curious what fixes they are going to put in place. If it is anything good, I'm sure we'll all be making appointments to go in!

Don't apologize - I feel the same way. I will admit, my system "appears" to be burning in and I'm getting slightly better bass response, BUT, still crappy audio. Nowhere near where it should be....not even close to my trusty '03 Civic, may the new owner enjoy the audio that is caressing his ears... *sigh*

In my last car, an RSX I had upgraded the audio with a nice Kenwood head unit, JL Audio front component speakers, real coaxials, and a customer 10" JL Audio sub in the corner of the hatch. It was powered by a 4x75, and a 175 mono Alpine amps. It sounded awesome. Bass was deep and tight but not car rattling. The system played loud but not deafening. It was sweet. I of course do not expect that from the factory sound, but I also dont expect the 360 watt premium audio to sound like it came from a Geo Metro in the late 80's!

I just received a call from the service manager. The dealer has been advised that Honda is working in a software update for the audio system for the 2013 Accord and should be available by mid January. What exactly this will fix, I do not know. He will contact me once it is available.

Nice - I have a feeling that over time, I'll be upgrading my speakers (unless some miracle happens) and adding an amp. For now, my Geo Metro...ehem...I mean Accord is rockin' it 80's style!

I made an appointment for Monday to have what Handa calls a patch to be installed to fix my audo problems. Sence I have so many problems I'm not sure which problems it is suppose to fix but we will see.
Last night I had a new problem, I turned the car off in the garage and started to get out. As I got out it started beeping like I left the lights on. I made sure everything was off and when I opened the door again it started beeping again. I got out closed the door and the beeping stoped. This morning I opened the door and it started beeping again.
I know the problems we have been discussing have been electronic but I have been having an issue of a different kind and I wonder if anyone has had the same thing. I stop for a light or stop sigh, as I start to enter the intersection the car hesitates then starts back up.
I will let you know how the patch works.

Sorry to hear Don. You seem to be having more than just audio problems which is unfortunate. The only other problem I have been having is my exterior trunk release button isnt working, and my passenger door only responds to the keyless touch sometimes. Fortunately my drivers door works all the time so I will wait and get these issues addressed when Honda has the fix for the audio problems.

Honda dealer called me, (after I left a voicemail to service and then emailed the dealership same info we've been posting about). The lady on the phone said she has heard of other people having problems, but it has always been a bluetooth/cell phone issue. I told her about the posts on here, others having same problems. I also very clearly made my point that if they don't know how to fix it I don't want to waste my time bringing it in there. She said they have to check a few things to keep moving forward, so as far as she knew there was no known issue or patch from Honda. Car goes in Saturday the 22nd.
