ported boxers are louder and they will last you 2x longer.
if you haev only a box with no port. the bass is creating tension and perssure isnt released while its hitting.

Also, a ported box will usually be louder BUT only at its tuned frequency. A sealed box will have a much flatter response curve and be louder over the whole spectrum. On top of that, a ported box will roll off severly below its tuned frequency so your bass will be very one note'ish.
I ported my subs myself and it made a huge difference in sound.
my friend had a smaller box then me 2, 10 inchkickers nd he turned his on full 24/7. the box shifted so much the nail grinded the wood and the box was useless..
depending on subs.. its basically quality i guess.
kickers are more for boom boom bass, while JL audio is very smooth, not as loud but very smooth. nd JL audio is raelly pricey..

I would say get the infinity kappa perfects, 2 twelves with a 1000 watt amp, sounds great, i would't get anything bigger than twelves because my 10" make my trunk rattle doesnt sound to good with the rattle. I dont like ported thats just me though you honestly get more hit with a sealed box. and Oh yea i would get them off the internet its a whole lot cheaper but you dont get to hear it before.

If you want clarity without too much thump i would go with Diamonds. They are very expensive but well worth it. I would do two CM3 or TDX series 10's in a sealed box. Pair those to a 500 watt class D amp (eithera Memphis JL or Diamond) and you should be happy. By the way out of those amps Diamond is the only one that will offer a 5year replacement if you blow it.
