Default 02 accord coupe v6 tranny problems!!!!!

Need some help! My 02 accord coupe v6 check engine light just came on. I haven't had the car long maybe a week, when i noticed the check engine light on i noticed the d light blinking too not sure how many times it blinked though. Also i noticed when shifting 3rd and 4th gear in between shifts seems like theres a long gap where my rpm's climb but seems like car is in neutral then it finally kicks in. Only time it shifts hard is when im rolling bout 10mph then i hit gas sometimes it kicks in hard. I gave it a full tuneup and tranny fluid change and added lucas tranny additive with negative results. Hoping i dont need a new tranny been pricing around price range is $1600-2000. Anybody have same issues ? What did you do?

Sorry to say my friend, but that generation Accord with the automatic V6 trannys have problems.

I would say baby it as much as you can, do a transmission flush, and just be nice to it. Don't push it to the limit.

The trannies like to fail. Happened to me last summer I have a 99 v6 and ended up having to buy a new one.

Good luck! There's lots of threads about this problem too you can read up on.

Honda automatic trannys don't like to be power-flushed. You should drain & fill.

I would seriously consider selling that car. You have a 50% chance the new or rebuilt transmission will wind up failing as well.

x2 auto trannys are crap.
If you flushed your tranny it's prob. f-ed up internally. As Jim said you must drain and fill we don't have serviceable filters. The only way you can service it is by breaking down the tranny. At the point you might as well buy another tranny.
Did you buy the car from honda or private sale?
If from honda Id b***h a blue streak and make them fix it or get the cops called to remove you from the lot.( had experience with that lol )
But private sale not much you can really do without getting the selling party to work with you. But most likely they will say "you bought it AS IS" and your kinda f-ed in the a at the point.

I bought it from a private party I paid $3000 for it. There's a place by san Francisco area that has rebuilt tranny's for a good price and 3 year warranty, I think I'll give them a shot. Car will be used as my commuter car so if I baby it maybe it'll stretch the tranny life. If I would of known I wouldn't have bought it. Didn't have check engine light on when I bought it from that fool, light came on 2 days after don't know if he rigged sumthn . But I'm stuck now and if I try an sell it I wud lose money. Thanx for info guys great help!!!

He prob. cleared the CEL codes and hoped and prayed you didn’t notice until after you bought it...that's my guess b/c some CEL codes won’t pop every time you drive the car.
