Engine/Tranny swap
First post to this forum
I have on my hands, a 2000 Accord SE (Automatic Trans., 4 cyl.) and a few questions.
Long story short, I cracked my transmission and I figured that was a good enough reason to start saving money for the manual conversion. Given I am still quite far from the amount I would need, I was wondering if it would make sense to sell the engine and then do the conversion, wait another month, and then buy a new engine.
Secondly, If you were going to do this yourself, which engine would you throw in there and why?
Any opinions are appreciated

Were I in your shoes I'd replace the automatic with another automatic and then sell the car so you can buy something you really want (which might well be a roughly identical car with a manual transmission).
Okay, sentimental value I get, but after all, it's just a car. The thing is, between the parts fab for the clutch pedal assembly and routing and mounting the necessary hydraulic system plumbing, there are a few areas that can bedevil a project like this.
Think about it this way; I have an Accord version which isn't available with a manual transmission (from the factory at least), so selling mine and buying a manual version isn't an option. So, as much as I prefer manuals, and as much as I know how superior my Accord would be with a stick, and as certain as it is that I'll need to replace the automatic in my car sooner or later, and as good of a mechanic as I am (been turning wrenches since the mid 1970s), I still won't attempt the swap. Why? Too much of a pain in the hind parts.
In the end I'll wait for my daughter to become a competent driver and then teach her how to drive a stick; that's when the Accord will probably get swapped out for something else (maybe a later model EX 2-Door V6 6-Speed model, maybe something else).
