Yeah, Desert beat me to it... I was gonna say you'll have a hard time finding your clutch cable.

Try something...

Have someone pump the clutch pedal while you're under the hood. Watch the slave cylinder as it pushes the throw-out lever. It should move back & forth -what- about 12mm or so?

I'm thinking about what you can check out from the outside. You want to verify that the external hydraulic system (clutch master& slave cylinders) is all working OK.

If it's not moving properly, then maybe it's something external after all, & you could deal with that.

If the clutch itself is worn out, the throw-out lever will push the slave cylinder & compress it's piston all the way in. Maybe Desert or someone knows something you can measure to see what you got??

Does it grind at all? Is the shifter soft or rougher than usual?

try this.......

drive the car at about 40-45 mph, 4th gear, accelerate than quickly push and release the clutch pedal if rpm stay up ,or do not come down right away ,, clutch is slipping .. time for a new clutch ,,

Well guys, I'm back in the sandbox. But I would have to say that my exact problem is what was last posted by deserthonda explained. I wish I could diagnose more but that won't be for another 6 months or so. But beleive me, when its time to get down and dirty with the car, I'll be back on this forum. Thanks again for everyone's input and I wish you all the best. Lastly, would it be ill advised to revive this dead thread 6 months later?

dnasantiago-
Of course not, just pick up where you left off. Next time home, with tours over, maybe you can get something new (or newer) that you don't have to mess with.

SirNasty-
I didn't realize (or had forgotten)that you were alsoin the military. This old squid salutes you and all other military here.......and over there.
