I'm working on my daughter's 2000 Accord EX 3.0 Coupe and am in the process of getting everything lined out to replace the fuel tank. There's a broken white wire on the pump/sending unit assembly that I'm trying to figure out how serious it will be to repair. I found this photo on the net and it shows the wire in question. CAN ANYONE HERE TELL ME WHAT IT DOES AND IF i CAN JUST SOLDER IT BACK TO THE SILVER barrel looking end that it broke from? (sorry, caps lock was on)

 

Either solder it well or replace the crimp fitting.

 

I've been searching the net to find out what that part is and so far only found it is a "sensor", that's it. After looking at mine closer, there doesn't appear to be anything to solder to, and I'm pretty experienced with a soldering iron. I'm going to try to shoot a pic to post.

This is the best I can do for now. It appears to have a very small piece left that I'll try to solder. In the meantime, if you or anyone else knows what this sensor is, I'd still like to know more about it. Thanks

 

I could be wrong but maybe it's a sensor for the "low fuel indicator" ? Hope I can solder it properly. These sending units are almost a hundred bucks.
