Default 02 Accord - starting problems

Hello, I bought this car 4 months ago and it has been running great. Recently it started to not want to start when turning key, like there was no juice at all. I put a new battery in and thought it would fix the problem. I can go about 10 starts in a row and all of sudden it will not crank. Sometimes it will start the next try or it may take 3 - 6 more. Could it be the starter, solenoid, alternator - how do you tell?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Paul

Do you hear one click coming from the engine bay, when it isn't starting?

It definitely sounds like the starter contacts are worn out. I am not sure if those contacts are available for replacement.

Replaced or repaired.

On older accords with denso starters, the contacts could be replaced fairly easily. I repaired my starter with the same problem as yours for ~$25 on my old 95 accord.

Your accord has a Mitsuba starter (same as my 05 TSX), but I am not sure if the contacts are easy to replace and/or easy to purchase.

Is there a preferred vendor on this forum, or one that advertises to sell parts?
