Good to know, what years are interchangeable with the honda's?

 

It looks like all 94-97 accords. There is a link for parts compatibility in the common DIY threads on top of the gen tech help forum.

 

you could jump out the wires that plug into the thermosat and that will fool the sys. into staying on. I think a and c ground to b but ask pahonda for sure because I don't know if one of those wires goes to the pcu. if it doesn't turn on then you have two problems in the system.
my memory is kind of going but i do vaguely remember doing this till I could fix it, by using the a/c switch to stop the evap. from freezing.

 

well I got the sensor out and I'm going to test it later, but I also think it may have been part of the cooling problem, the probe wasn't even in the evap anymore.

 

just remembered do not run the car with the the thermostat out of the loop. you can test it for a couple of seconds but you dont want to take the chance of flooding the compressor . when I did this it was basically a test on my car. I headed a bus a/c deptment and could get all my parts for free. sorry about the bad advice.

Sorry for late response to your PM. I am out of town on business and don't have much time to post.

The evap sensor is inserted into the fins of the evaporator and can't be removed in place. If it was removed as described, then it probably can't be re-installed. I suspect the evaporator housing will need to be removed to repair.

It may be worth removing blower fan and seeing if you can see where the sensor is inserted into the evaporator fins. You will likely see some distortion of fins if someone forcibly removed the sensor by pulling from outside of the evaporator. Perhaps it could be reinstalled by removing the blower, inserting sensor into sensor port, reaching in from blower access to install sensor in fins. This last is speculation, as I'm not familiar w/ the V6 AC arrangement.

The Acura V6's have a very difficult arrangement to access the evaporator. The V6 Accord may be similar.

A shop manual is a must for this job.

Thanks, it was queit easy to remove, and the blower is on the right side towards the fender, were as the thermostat is on the left. Removed a few screws and clips reached in and pulled it out.

 

Got the new ac thermostat, ac is working so much better.
