Coming from the split where the T-stat housing opens to install the T-stat? Or where the T-stat housing bolts to the engine?

i wonder if the t-stat slipped down when you were installing it and did not sit properly in the housing , thus it would cause a leak ,,,,,,,,t-stat came with new gasket ,,, right ?? did you use a Honda t-stat??

The T-stat gasket is split around the inside, & the edge of the T-stat goes into that split. That way the gasket covers both sides of the T-stat and seals against both sides of the housing. Is it possible you put the gasket on only one side?

I did put the t-stat inbetween the slits in the gasket. However, it may have slid down during install.

Also,

I used the old gasket and an aftermarket t-stat ( i know, i know)

Good news, I ordered a honda t-stat w/ gasket, installing very soon.

"FBODYRS96"- Your issue sounds different. Only in stop and go traffic with the ac on? When the AC is on are BOTH fans running. With the AC off, sitting still, do the fans cycle on and off as the car warms up?

my issue was the coolant level being very low. eventually got that way from a small leak.

only on highway driving was there enough air to keep the motor cool.
