Default 2000 Accord V-6 Tranny Issues!!

I am new to the forum. I browsed the tech section looking for an answer to my question. I know now that there are tranny issues with 98-02 V-6 Accords. Here is my story. I bought this car in August of 08' from a Mazda dealership after I was rearended in my Maxima and it was totaled. The car was in great shape cosmetically and ran good. I should of done my research on the car before I bought it and found out about the tranny problems. The car now has 72k miles on it and when it is in overdrive and I am going anywhere between 50-60mph, just barely giving it any gas it shudders. The D4 light is off, it never blinked at all. I have only had the check engine light come on for I believe the IAC solenoid on the throttle body. I now there was a warrany extension. I believe it was for 7 years and 10 months from the date of purchase. Does anyone think I have a chance of getting Honda to cover this, due to the fact it is a low mileage car? Sorry for the long story.

Call them with the VIN number and see what happens. There might be an extension on the warranty for that car because it has had som many issues with the trans.

You have a very good chance of getting the transmission replaced under warranty.
Have your VIN handy and call the local dealership, or better yet, to go by and meet and greet with the service manager, so you can schmooze a little bit. [don't waste time talking to service writers]
"I love my honda" "I want to keep it fully serviced" "blah blah blah"
If you need more help call the Honda Customer Care Center 1-800-999-1009

Blue92, I made the same exact mistake as you!! I didn't do my research and bought a 2000 v6 accord w/75K miles a few months ago. The problem is when I shift to reverse in the morning, the tranny slams hard. After a minute of driving and the car is warmed up, everything is normal. I called American Honda and they said although my car is one of the vehicles covered in the extended warranty, that warranty has expired. It's 100K miles OR 7 years, whichever is first. So I began my tirade and said this is BS!! Honda is suppose to be reliable and needs to live up to their ****ty v6 trannies. The rep. caved in and started a case for me but said it will probably only cover part of it. I decided that I didn't want to deal with this garbage and sold the car instead. Bought a 2005 4-cyl instead. If I was the Attorney General, I would have Honda recall every single of those trannies betw.98-02. I've spoken to several mechanics and all of them said the trannies on the v6's are not Honda's forte. Hope this helps and good luck.
