Default 2000 EX-L losing power intermittently

My brother has a 2000 Honda Accord that used to be my wife's daily driver. After multiple issues, we decided to get rid of it. Due to engine failure, I replaced it with a stock JDM motor which went fine. The car has run flawlessly for 3 years since. Transmission was also replaced under recall in 2008.

A couple months ago my brother lost power at 70mph and 4.5k rpm during a lane change. The engine continued revving but power was dropping. He merged over, limped at about 40mph to the exit and made it to my house. Local tech determined a 'general misfire' code and recommended we replaced EGR valve, both O2 sensors and have the valve timing adjusted. Which we did and the car ran fine for a few weeks. A catalytic converter code issued soon after, but did not coincide with the issue recurring.

Now these power loss events, while still intermittent, are happening more frequently. My brother has done some freeway driving at 50mph since that is all the car is capable of when this issue is happening. He took the car to a local tech where he lives, and they have scanned a vtech sensor code. Does any of this sound consistent with an intermittently failing vtec sensor? Could there be an issue with the JDM swap? As I recall, the motor did not come with a vtech sensor and we had to move the original over to the new motor. Any help or input would be great! Thanks.

Me....

1) Ign issue....ICM or coil (no other codes presented upon scan)
2) Main relay issue
3) Ign switch issue

Testing is key to solve this.

Most auto parts stores will scan the codes for no charge. Find out the actual codes (like P1234) and post them on here.

Getting the info 2nd hand over the phone, but I believe the codes are P1300-Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected and P1253-VTEC System Malfunction. I'll try to get confirmation of that...
