Question 2003 Accord Blower failure

Hey Guys,

I have a 2003 accord ex v6 4 door, about 95k .
Today the heat/ ac fan stopped blowing, no response at any fan speed or setting,
ive been poking around the web for some answers, im not a car guy but i can try to figure some things out,
-so far i have banged the blower as suggested, no response
- the voltage coming off connection is 10.9v
- i did buy a 12v battery to try to hook up to blower, but when i got home i discovered that someone returned an old battery in the box that i purchased at radio shack, none left in stock, ill try to find another, do i need a 12 v 5ah or 7ah?
-checked fuses under hood, couldnt really find any for blower in particular but all related fuses were ok

ive found that basicallly it may either be the blower motor or the resistor, or maybe a relay that i do not know where to find.

ive priced the parts and at around $50 each ill be thrilled to repair this my self.

on a side note worth mentioning, i tried to jump a bobcat off of my car yesterday, not sure if it may be related, doubt it

So you have 10.9 v at the motor, correct. Does the voltage change with the speed settings.

Can you run a piece of wire from the battery in the car to it?

Sounds like you're going down the right path, power in and nothing=motor. No power getting to it, work your way back...and yes, it seems the '03's are having issues with the resistor....seen a lot of posts about it.

voltage only dropped off to 10.8 i think on lowsetting. i would have expected a big difference

well maybe i need to read a little more about using a multimeter,

i just redid it using the blue/white to red meter wire and black meter wire to body ground,
i came up with around 12v with no change at different fan speeds, before i was using pos and neg meter probes in each blower connection

The 03 is setup differently than the older accords. The transistor will get a constant 12V, and will change resistance on the ground side.

Here is a thread dealing with the same problem:

Thanks PA....I missed/forgot about the ground side. To the OP, sorry about that.

That blower control isn't a set of resistors. It's a solid-state controller of some kind, so you won't measure nice "resistance" across it.

Check out this thread, I put in troubleshooting procedure from 03-06 Helm book.

Look at posts #15 & 16.

The guy never came back to say it was fixed or not, but you can do the same things to check out the circuits. Let us know what you measure at each step of the way.
