#32 fuse (interior/tail lights) troubleshooting
Hello everyone,
I have been having issues with my #32 fuse (underhood) blowing out constantly, and need some advice for troubleshooting the cause.
My interior and tail lights were out for about a week and I thought I had a faulty combination light switch. I tested the #32 fuse first and found it was fine. I then took the steering column apart, tested the power from the red/green (it was also fine at the time) and ultimately replaced the combo switch. Everything worked well for about two days, but as of yesterday it started blowing fuses whenever I turn on my running lights.
I am guessing the problem may not have been the combo switch in the first place, but am at a loss as to what else it would be. I've checked over the wiring diagrams and am not sure where to look next. Any suggestions?
Thank you all for your time!

Oh I hate wire and water issues.
First question, any recent work on the car? OE Radio? HID or some other aftermarket lighting? Cig lighter clean, a penny in there can cause all kinds of issues.
Then, not as common on the 5th gens, any water in the trunk/tail lights?

Hey Poorman, thanks for the reply.
No recent work at all. The stereo is aftermarket but has been in place for 3+ years with no issues. No aftermarket lights or HID. I just checked the cigarette lighter, nothing in there and it works fine.
I just popped out the trunk and tail lights and they all seem to be bone dry, no water at all as far as I can tell. I do tend to get condensation on the inside top of the trunk, so I will check that again tomorrow morning to make sure it's not a short in the trunk or license plate lights. The car is in covered parking now so I'm hoping it will dry out a little overnight.
I'm in Oregon and it's been raining daily for the past month so I know you're correct about it being a water issue. The car was parked in the rain all weekend when I started having the problems. If there are any other areas to check, please let me know.
Thanks again, it's MUCH appreciated!

Sorry, I wasn't suggesting water was causing the issue. I was stating the two things I hate to chase down the most are elect issues OR water leaks.
Don't get me wrong, one can cause the other.
The "short circut finder" never personally used one, maybe I should try?
Don't have my computer tonight (using the wife's) so I don't have the wire diag at home, if you have one (if not download one-see the DIY section) you might look for the circuts that are powered by that fuse.-unplug the front marker lights, head lights, ect until you find where the fuse doesn't blow.

The tool (short finder) is in my tool box still in the packing. I was going to use it on one of jobs I had going two month ago. The problem was turn out to be something else. So, I really can not say how effective it is.
I wonder how the OP's problem turned out,,,,
