84 Accord Starts then dies
I am back for some more assistance! I bought an 84 Accord not running. The car sat for almost two years.
Replaced the following:
Timing Belt
Coil
Plugs
Plug Wires
Cap and Rotor
Fuel Filter
Fuel pump
Oil and Oil filter
Checked the following:
Wires to Coil ok
wires to and ignitor in distributor ok
Spark to plugs ok
Compression ok
Car started and idled ok and I drove it for 10 miles and it ran great. Now a week later, went to drive it again and now it will start, idle for 1-2 seconds and die. If I feather the gas pedal I can keep the engine running although tough to keep running, but the minute I take my foot off it idles for a second then dies.
Any ideas?

Sorry for all of the questions, trying to understand more.
On 3rd gen (86-89) they have two fuel filters. One in the back behind the drivers rear tire and the other under the hood.
I'm sure you looked but is there a vaccum leak (base gasket, vac line/hose). Or does it seem like it's flooding. Does it do this all the time or just when cold. Added fresh gas.

I have checked the primary fuel filter (next to the carb). Does not appear to be flooding.
As for the vaccum leak, I keep checking all of the vaccum lines and have not found a leak. I have tried spraying carb cleaner around the carb while starting and have not noticed any difference.

Sat for two years-could the float level, needle/seat be stuck. 86-89 have a sight glass on the drivers side of car. Had an 81 but can't remember. When it dies does it restart right away.
If you feather the gas until warm, does the same issue happen (choke).
Hondadude (?-bosiehonda)- carb bowl vent valve? Proper flow and psi from the pump-carb, so psi is 4~6 but volume could be an issue.

When the car dies, I step on the gas one pump and it restarts right away, runs for 1-2 seconds then dies. It is very difficult to keep the engine running by feathering the gas, inconsistant idle and the moment I take my foot of the gas it dies.
I will look for the sight glass and read up a bit more on the carb.

at the back of carb there is the idle solenoid,,,,,,,,make sure that you hear ( feel ) it clicking when key is turned on,, if it clicks, remove it ( need an 8 mm wrench ) and spray carb cleaner inside the port and blow it with compressed air, put back together ..

Just a follow up. The Honda is alive and well! For those who are interested, the problem was carb related. The fuel cut off solenoid on the side of the carb was stuck, not completely open or shut. My mechanic recommended bypassing the solenoid. That did the trick!
