'89 LX high idle, new owner
I just picked up a '89 LX 5speed accord.
Flip up headlights, OH YAH. AND they both work!
Anyway, it has a wicked high idle....above 2k.
I can get it to kick down if I lift behind the gas pedel with my foot. But it shoots back up as soon as you give it any gas again.
The car has 265k on it. Not in the best of shape. I am hoping I can get the rocker panels fixed, new tires and a new inspection sticker. If I can, then ill want to get the high idle fixed.
Any ideas? This is the carbed motor. Is there a vaccume line I should look for?
also, I had a '89 LXI years back. I recall I adjusted the ignition timing and got more low end grunt. Can I do the same with this one...even tho its carbed instead of fuel injected?

A few things for you.
1) At the top of this section, I moved this to General Tech, there is a post at the top - Common DIY Threads. In there, there is a thread about online manuals, download the one for your car 86-89 are the same gen.
2) Check that the linkage is moving freely.
3) In the manual, look up the fast idle unloader and do the testing listed there.
