if there was oil on the spark plug boots it is indeed from a leaking valve train spark plug tube seal or valve cover spark plug tube seal leaking. when you remove the plug the oil drained into the combustion chamber and in the process wet up the plugs.

you can see the upper seals in one of the pdf files. the lower seals are below the rocker arm assembly. in the pic where you see the rocker arm assembly removed from the head you see the spark plug tubes - they rest on those flats.
