Default 93 accord lx shifting problem

Hey guys

I've got a 93 accord lx manual transmission. 200k on the clock. The clutch was done by the p/o about 15k miles ago. Now when I shift I have trouple putting it in 3rd and sometimes it grinds in fifth. Other times its hard to shift into the other gears. I know a lot about engines and suspensions, but am lost on tranny issues. Any help on what's going on would be helpful i searched but came up with nothing. I'm no noob even though it says I am.

Does this feel like you are trying to shift without pushing the clutch pedal all the way down?

There are really three components to inspect. The clutch hydraulics, the clutch, and the transmission.

I might start with changing the transmission fluid, as this is a maintenance item. At least check the fluid level.

agree w/ above.

I'd check the clutch fluid level first.
Check for clutch sufficient throw second. Any cylinder leaks? (And look for drips underneath)

Replace the tranny fluid third: these cars spec engine oil in manual tranny
10w-40, 10w-30, or 30w. I just replaced my '92 w/ 10w-30. feels good.

Ya I noticed when I shift and rev it up it shifts better so I think it could be fluid. Slight leaks in places but nothing major. What kind of fluid is used for the clutch? Is it the same 10w-30 and is that 10w-30 tranny oil?

Hold on, you can use 10w-30 or 10w-40 for the transmission fluid. I would personally use the Honda manual transmission fluid.

The clutch hydraulic fluid (master and slave cylinders) is brake fluid. I believe it is DOT3. The cap on the master cylinder will say what DOT brake fluid to use.

Honda manual-trans fluid will work a little bit better than engine oil. It is completely compatible.

DOT3 (or DOT4) brake fluid is used as clutch hydraulic fluid.
