Default 95 Accord Tranny swap

Hi all,

New to the forum, I have a question regarding the Auto transmission in my 95 Accord 4cyl non V-tec. Tranny needs a complete rebuild...Looking to swap in a used tranny because of money issues. I came across a tranny that's from a V-tec car. Is there any difference between the 4 cyl. v-tec and non v-tec transmissions.

What tags should I look for (AOYA, BOYA, MPOA)

Thanks

Tony

The 94/95 automatic transmissions are identical for vtec and non-vtec. Not sure about the difference is with the 96/97.

AOYA is the USA built and MPOA was made in japan.

Look at a site like car-part.com to find transmissions in junkyards by distance or price.

Out of curiosity, how difficult is a swap like this?

You can use ANY F or H series trans they all will bolt up.

As for the swap...if you have all the right tolls and the skills no more than few hrs for the swap. If you have a lift and all that good stuff it won't be all that hard But if you are doing this at your house you will have some fun doing this swap. The hard part is getting it out of the engine bay. You have to remove everything from the trans to your tire...everything in between. B/c the trans has t be shimmied out the pass side wheel well if you don't pull the whole engine and trans out at once. Me personally since I do all my work on my farm. I would pull the whole engine and trans out. Make it soooooo much easier to work on. Unbolting the trans from the engine is easy…getttin it out and back in is the hard part.
