Hello, I am new to this site so I hope I am doing this right. I just bought a 96 accord and the guy i bought it from said the speedo just quick working, like it was at 30-40 miles an hour then it just kept going all the way around, now it just kinda hangs down at the bottom and it fluctuates just alilttle against the pin at zero. the odometor still works just the speedometer does not, if any ideas i can try would be really helpfull, and if it is one of the speed sencers where can i find them. thanks Steve

 

Does the cruise control work when the speedometer is not working? Stop by a parts store and have them scan for error codes. You connector is behind the ash tray.

 

Thanks for the reply, and yes the cruise control and the odometer and the trip odometer all work, the speedometer needle is at the bottom of the gauge untill I start moving then it hits the back side of the little pin at zero then back the the bottom when I stop. I just bought the car so there was no code to read I even put the obd2 on it with no results, so I am hoping the longer I drive it I am hoping the code comes back on not to sure about that though

 

check electronics for the transmission,? thats what i had problems with went to the local shop they changed out some wires going to the transmission that fixed it for good.
