Default 97 accord cranks but wont start.

so this is how it all started: i have an automatic 97 accord v-tech. one day my car was running fine, then i turned off the car and took the key out for only a min. then when i tried to start it again, nothing. i got power to everything but no crank. it turns out to be a bad starter. the car sat for about a month and a half after the starter went out and its been pretty warm outside, 80s & 90s. well today we put a bran new starter in and it cranks over now but wont start. we checked and the spark plugs are getting spark and its pumping fuel, all the fuses are good, nothing got left unpluged, there is fuel in the tank. my dad says the gas smells a little funny to him. will bad gas cause the car not to start?..... what could be the problem?

Could be.....got a can of starter fluid or carb cleaner? Open the butterfly in the TB and give it a "few seconds" of spray and try starting the car.

How did you verify it is "pumping fuel"? Just want to be sure.
