Default 98 accord worn key cylinder?

Just did recall on my 98 accord 4cylinder key switch. Dealer told me key cylinder was also worn and wanted $400 to change cylinder. Car shuts down and I am able to hold key in position 3 to kick it back on. Now can I order new key cylinder and fix without programming? Thanks for any help.

Strange......can't say I've seen a worn key cyl cause the car to shut down. Usually replacing the electrical part of the switch is all that is needed?

Is the car still shutting off with the new switch?
