Default Auto tranny position switch

Trying to troubleshoot an intermittent P0705/P0706. Looking at the schematic, I see the same contacts that are used for the position lights in the dash are used for the PCM. So far, the switch checks good, but I have two questions:
1. If the fault is present in the switch, I should also see something in the dash lights for the transmission gear position indicator, right?
2. There are two sets of wires related to the switch. One set of wires has just two wires that are black with a white stripe. These are quite a bit larger than the other wires that go to the indicator and PCM. I have the Honda ETM and it doesn't show these wires, unless they are on a diagram other than the transmission controls (page 39 through 39-3) or the position indicator diagram (page 89). Does anybody have any idea what the two large wires are for?

Thanks in advance.

Never mind the question about the two large wires. I found them in the starting system section of the ETM. They're used to inhibit starting the engine while in gear.
