Yes, a swap, but the pan is steel and seemed to fit the block very well. I ended up buying a Felpro and smeared a thin layer RTV on both sides of the gasket. Torqued to 5 ft/lbs; anything more and the gasket started squishing out the sides. If this fix doesn't take I'll buy a Honda OEM gasket.

I think the PO of the donor car owned stock in RTV manufacturer considering how much was RTV was hanging over the sides of the pan.

 

It's a bit late for this advice, but anyway...

Allow time for the RTV to harden with very little torque on those oilpan nuts. That way the gasket won't squish out of position. Then tighten them to spec after the stuff is dry.

 

We'll see. I did let the RTV set up for about a half an hour before torquing. The spec is 10 ft/lbs but as I said the most I could do was 5 ft/lbs. Maybe a 24 hour cure time would have been better. The bright blue Felpro gasket was made out of a very soft compound.

It was a very small leak so I'll have to wait awhile to see if the leak stopped. If it didn't I'm going to buy an OEM gasket which hopefully has metal spacing washers in it.
