For clarity, when you turn the key to start the engine, do you have a crank no start or a no crank no start? Crank means the starter motor spins the engine when you turn the key. No crank means nothing happens when you turn the key.

The starter circuit is working, because the power is sent from the ignition switch to the starter. Crank/No-Starts can be caused by lack of spark, fuel, air, or compression. Scan for codes to possibly get a direction for testing.

Were you having the same issues before you changed the starter? Was the original starter cranking the engine? Was any other work done on the car before you had the starting issue?

Do you have an old spark plug for spark testing or a spark tester? Starting fluid to test for missing fuel?

Did you try adding some gasoline (1/2 gallon) to the gas tank?

Bought as a used car to fix up . Was starting slow and intermittently . shift **** was off but seemed to work as normal by pressing in top piece . Got it home ok with out restarting , that turned out to be a good thing because it started to not start as much the first try ..Took several try,s . I noticed if I put some pressure down and back on key it would start more often then not . So that l led me to think it was starter switch .. At first it seemed to turn with more authority but only 4 or 5 revs .. then very slow ..like a short or something .. lights would dim but not all the way . Seemed to spin enough at first to start but ...did not . That led me to think it was in immobilizer mode and it was ! . Must have got it to reset with one of many techniques . After a while it started acting slower to crank over { spin} engine ...that led me to a partial bad starter that I didn't want to do ! Also had it checked and it was bad ... doing some extra things and 7 hours later ..Its spinning over very well..still no start .
How can one person have such bad luck !!! I will try to figure if its fuel or spark ..Kind of hard to do one handed .. thanks for your input ! TANK SHOWS 1/4 ..but will try that to .
