Default high speed damage power train over time

I moved to southern Florida. The speed limit is 70 and it is typical to drive 80. I am putting about 500 miles/week on my 05 accord coupe 4 cyl. Does driving this speed damage the power train if done so week after week Fluids changed at regular intervals (oil about every 6,000 miles.) Your thoughts welcomed and appreciated. I have 97,000 miles on the engine.

Sounds like your car will wear out early ... at about 350,000 miles.

I change motor oil 2x as often as you do, but that's my choice.

Well, it will last longer at 70 than 80, but other factors such as service, braking/acceleration practice are more important than speed. Most folks tire of the car long before the car tires out.

good luck

High road-speed has very little to do with oil life.

How many times you start the engine. How many minutes does the engine spend cold, before it warms up. That's why short trips are harder than 500-mile highway trips.

How often do you mash the gas pedal with a cold engine? That's bad for the oil.

Your post doesn't really answer those questions.

Eighty shouldn't tax the car hardly at all, especially if you have a manual transmission. Think about it this way, cars with essentially the same engine as your run up and down Germany's AutoBahn at speeds well over 120 mph for hundreds of thousands of kilometers with few if any engine and drivetrain related issues.
