Default Identify small screw found on floor

Hi- I was cleaning our 2024 Accord EX and found a small set screw on the floor behind the passenger seat. It's a cap screw with a diamter of 5.78mm by 6mm in length.

I have no idea if it fell out of something we carried in the car or if it fell off a component in the car. There's no thread sealant on it which I think is somewhat unusual if it was used on a critical component like a seat. I looked at the parts diagram for our vehicle and didn't see a set screw listed as a part by itself, but there are component 'sets' that might include a set screw along with other parts.

Does anyone have any idea of whether such a screw might have been used in the interior of the vehicle by design? Thanks so much.

I'm assuming that this requires a hex socket to tighten? If it came off the car, then it almost has to be from the back seat. Take a look under the seat to see if the same style of bolt is used.

Yes, it requires a hex wrench. I looked under the seat with a mirror and light and didn't see any similar sort of screw, but a lot of the area is covered in plastic trim.

Because it's a headless cap screw, I can only imagine that it perhaps limits the movement of something rather than holding two parts together. Our family is trying to remember if we ever carried something in the car that might have had such a screw on it that fell off and we can't think of anything.

I've only worked on my older accord/acura's, but I don't ever recall needing an allen wrench to remove any bolt.

I'll guess that it came off of something else. Just keep the bolt in the glove box in case something comes loose and rattles in the seat.

Thank you. That's the sort of advice, based upon experience, that I was looking for.

I did talk to the manager of the parts dept at my dealership and he'll be getting back to me by tomorrow to see if a 6mm cap screw is used anywhere.
