motor mount help???
my son has an 88 accord lx auto he just purchased and we are fixing some items. I noticed when he shifts from drive to reverse that the engine lurches up a little and makes a little noise. Got out the haynes manual and jacked up the engine and it definitley moves up from the rear mount. The rear mount has a stud thru the mount from the cross member. when I jack it up both the stud and motor mount raise up. Does this sound right? you might think the stud would be part of the cross member and not move, but I'm not sure and can't tell. Does anyone have any knowledge on this. Are the mounts expensive? How hard is this to change? Fairly hard to reach but I may be able to do something with your help, and I appreciate all that in advance. Thanks bob

I'm not sure if this drawing helps at all, but I don't have any actual experience with an '88. Which stud moves up?
ps. the picture includes more than one car, so I guess yours (automatic) would have #12 instead of #10 or #11.

motor mount
Thanks Jim, the schematic you provided may not be exact, but I looked the part up on several on line parts house's, and I can see my part on some of them, so maybe I'll see this weekend if I can get my old one off and try to match it up some where. Is it better to go with honda oem on this or is aftermarket ok. I'll look in the vendor directory also, thanks again, bob
