OK. But, what are you doing to test these opinions? You're living in
post-Renaissance England so truth comes from evidence, not opinions.

Step 1: when noise happens next, stop immediately and lift up the bonnet,
see if the fans are turning or more generally ID the noise location.
While still noisey, close bonnet, drive, when noise goes away -
stop, open up bonnet and see if anything's changed.

Just be careful when talking about the car's "muffler". It's called a Silencer over there.

You should check to rule out whether it's the sound of the air-conditioner cycling on & off. The radiator fans cycle along with the AC compressor. Increased road-noise makes it less noticable while you're driving faster.
