Default OIL COOLER

I have a 92 Accord EX. About 2 years ago I had a radiator hose go out and the engine overheated. About a few months after I noticed an oil leak that was near the oil cooler. It got worse. I eventually pulled off the cooler and replaced the o-ring that sits between the cooler and engine block. When I replaced it I noticed that the thickness of original o-ring was thicker than the new o-ring. I checked with the Honda dealer and was assured that the new
o-ring was the same as the old. Since the replacement the leak has gotten worse. I have tried a gasket and it is still not sealed.

Any ideas on where I can get a compatible o-ring or replace the oil cooler with an aftermarket. The dealer wants about $400 for a new oil cooler

HELP!!!!!!

go to a parts store and ask them to find you one that is thicker...dont tell them what its for, just ask to see a gasket kit, which should have a bunch of different sizes and thinknesses...

I am researching the fact that this oil cooler can be elininated by just removing it from the engine, block the hose going to it, and just screw the filter to the block.....I am researching this... my mechanic said he done it....hum....If you know anyone that done this...please let me know.

I wonder if there is a procedure for installing it. What I mean is are there any recomondations to coat the o-ring with oil or other types of fluid/grease to help it seal properly. Kind of like the oil filter when you install it you always run a light coat of oil on it and so on. I would ask about this or check in a manual if you have one or just give it a try.

Make sure your oil pressure sensor is not leaking. It is just above the oil cooler. If that is leaking it will leak over the oil cooler making it look like the cooler is leaking. If you choose to eliminate the cooler you have to plug the hoses going to it. They run coolant through them.
