OK to drive car w/ a/c compressor jumper wire?
Hi, I an new to Honda's, just bought a '94 accord lx and while getting things working I had to replace the a/c comp. and dryer, after recharging the compressor would not turn on so I did some research and made a jumper wire from the battery to the compressor clutch and it started up and ran ice cold. My question is can I run the a/c temporairily with the jumper wire just until I check all of the relays and switches( maybe 50 miles) so I can see if I have any leaks ?, or will it do damage to the system. I have a switch inline on a jumper wire right now. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Bill

There may be some problems, but w/ care it should be OK.
Compressor will be engaged whether AC switch is on/off or blower is on/off. If you forget and run w/ blower off, compressor may overload and damage. Also cooling fans won't come on unless you jumper thermoswitch A to force them to run all the time w/ keyswitch On.
AC may freeze up as thermostat will not be able to open compressor relay when evap temp goes below freezing.
good luck

Seems to me that you should not allow the compressor to run for extended time. Even if you wire the radiator fans to run 100%, you should not allow the compressor to run 100%. When the system operates correctly, the compressor cycles on & off so it only runs 20% or 50% of the time. You risk allowing the high-side refrigerant pressure to get too high.
