Default Time to replace the clutch?

As I was driving home from work last night, I started to smell burnt rubber. I usually let the car reach 4k rpm for 1st, then shift into second, even for turns.

Anywho, I wasn't riding the clutch, but the rpm's skyrocketed. At first I thought I took the corner too fast and it was just the tires, but I was only taking the turn at around 5-10 mph. I do know that a burning smell and the sudden boost in rpm's without changing speed could be a sign of a clutch going bye-bye.

I took the car for a 10 minute test drive today, and there wasn't any odor or sudden shifts in RPM's. There was a weird clunking noise from the back when I put the car in reverse, though it may have just been my loose exhaust system.

The clutch pedal went down fine and it shifts normally for the most part. It is sometimes difficult to shift into reverse. Due to traffic I'm usually having to go from 1st to 2nd a lot.

My test for a slipping clutch on daily driver car. get to a hill heading up and drive car in 2nd gear.
Floor it, keep pedal down, and if rpms soar w/o same car speed increase then your clutch is slipping.
