Default timing trouble

I have a 97 accord lx with a non vtec 2.2 engine. I replaced the cylinder head and timing belt and I got to timing the engine and I'm having trouble. The first thing is for some reason after loosening the distributor bolts I cant seem to move the distributor unless I take out the front distributor bolt all the way then it will move but the bolt wont go back in after I turn the distributor. And with the bolt all the way out and the connector under the glove box jumped I can move the distributor all I want and it wont change the ignition timing at all it just stays the same when using a timing light. I don't know if maybe I put the timing belt on wrong or maybe I have a bad ignition control module so any help anyone could offer would be much appreciated. I also should note that the car is running fine with the timing not being set and I have no engine codes and I also had to set the valve lash.

ok after searching for a while on the internet I think I found my answer I read 96 and up accords use a crank shaft sensor and the crows foot on the distributor since u don't have to time the engine.

That's right.

Is your timing off? Or just checking to see if it's OK?

the car runs great and im pretty sure the timing is fine i just took off the distributor to replace the cylinder head and figured i would have to time it again but i was wrong i didnt know that the distributor on an accord like mine is controlled by the ecm and the haynes manual was no help it didnt say a thing about not having to time obd2 accords. i cant believe the car fired up in three cranks with 8 month old gas and no check engine lights or anything im very suprised i got everything hooked up properly
