is it true that your battery gets worn down when you use jumper cables?
I'll have to check that out; I've never heard of a lifetime warranty on a battery. I'm probably gonna have to replace the original factory battery in the 2001 Saab before nextwinter.
I probably should have said, If I jump-start someone, I insist on checking out their battery connections. If something's questionable or backwards, I won't hook up. If you're not confident that you can look at any random car & understand the battery connections, then maybe it's safer to refuse.

that must refer to the life of the battery (4,5,6 yrs). Batteries don't last as long as cars, when they solve that one we'll all be driving electric cars.
I insist that turning off your car while jump starting a second car is wise.

Down here in Mississippi it is a lifetime warranty (or as long as you own the car.) If it was a "life of the battery" warranty how would that make any sense? They could say: "You'rebattery's life was 2 months and now it's dead. that will be $42 for a new one."
Simple solution: call your local Autozone and ask them what kind of warranty they have on Duralast Batteries.
WalMart also offers batteries with lifetime warranties.

BRAYNER: To minimize wear on your electrical system, not only should you have the car that is ok running, but you should also crank the engine to about 3000 rpms so the alternator puts out more power while cranking the car that needs the jump. This will minimize any negative effects on your electrical system by preventing a large electrical load from being placed on your battery. Your car sees less of a draw on it's systems if the alternator is making the power. The only difference is that the voltage regulator lets more power through to help the other car. Your way puts all of the load on the battery. If your battery has less CCA's than the jumpped motor needs, it will shorten your battery's life.

but yea, i remember seeing a duralast comercial about a lifetime warranty, but isnt it a limited lifetime warranty?
and have you had any problems with duralast?
I had a Duralast in my Accord before I totaled it. Cranked everytime, even in extremely cold weather. Good battery for the price.
Duralast is an excellent battery. I only had one go dead on me once. It was 4 years old or so and it was in "the money pit." There were bad connections to the battery and I am not sure if that eventually led to its failure or not. The guy at AutoZone in Brandon, MS tried his best to give me a new one for free afte the old one had failed. he searched on their database for around 15 minutes or so. i didn't remember who bought it originally or what - it was my wife's car at the time and we were not married yet. Anyways, I finally told him to quit looking because I was ready to go home and I had no idea who bought the original. that was how I found out about the lifetime warranty. he told me that it you bring in a Duralast Battery to any AutoZone and it tests"bad" on their machine (i.e. it cannot be saved even if recharged) they will replace it for free as long as you remember what store you bought it from and they can find it on their system. Needless to say, I bought another Duralast. if you buy a Duralast, just make sure you save the receipt. Also ask them about the warranty
