It's a concern. There is word of a lawsuit stating that the transmissions were faulty, possibly causing personal harm due to accidents (granted, this came from an Acura website - but all the same, it does involve the same trannies).

I am by no means an expert, let alone someone who works/has worked on these trannies, I just read forums and try and educate myself about my car.

On the flip side, I still knew about this issue when I bought my 2000 V6 in December '05. I still have not had any issues (knocking-on-wood-as-I-type), and have great faith in my 'new' car. It has around 103k miles on it.

I think ive heard a generalized thing being said about accord transmissions with there being a problem with second gear going out, and a seal somewhere breaking down, i would have to verify where i saw that though

dangg i've heard quite a few ugly comments bout it. n honda claims they've extended the warranty out to 7 years/100k miles but im assuming if im buyin a 98-99 hopefully the previous owner would have takin care of this prob? even so these cars are really nice for what you pay for. and im gonna look into it some more. so if anyone else has some issues please lemme know. btw i heard the 98's were ok n it was jus the 99-00's that act funny.
