Today I replaced the bellows/accordion section of the line with vacuum hose. Unfortunately it behaves the same way as before. It folds over and kinks when the hood is closed - cutting off any flow.

Can any of you guys tell by looking what is wrong?

You be the judge, but doesn't my '92 routing elbow have more of an angle towards the front of the car than your car does?
Yours seems straight up and down vertical.

And a question.. when you raise and lower the hood, does that elbow rotate up and down on yours?

 

I'd say a ~45 bend towards the front of the car and you sould be good.

 

I agree poorman. What happens with mine tho is when the hood is raised, the elbow goes all the way back up with it.

I think what I may do is try to restrict its movement somehow so it can't go beyond 45 degrees or so like you're saying.
