AT wont shift without releasing gas pedal

Honda can't make very good auto transmissions apparently.
Seriously though, older GM's use a throttle valve cable (ie. downshift cable) and they are adjustable on those, not sure about the older Accord setups. Improper adjustment will cause all sorts of weird shift point issues, though. It's worth looking into.

04 up Maxima,Volvo,Saab with the AW55-50 SN with hard shift problem cause by worn out valve body. Dodge 604 FWD with blown diff, RWD 500/518 with gov pressure sol & sensor. Ford Taurus/Winstar/Sable with converter splines stripped out cause it "no move". Toyota with the U140 in the Rav4/Corolla/Vibe slips in 3rd because the TCM failure.

not sure whats going on, trans fluid seems to be at a normal level and no lights or anything on the dash, but the car wont shift normally,
it will build up to 2.5k or 3k rpm and stay there until i let off the gas,, does that in a couple different gears and sometimes feels like it downshifts once i release the gas at times
??
recent seafoam of vaccuum line, gas and oil crankcase, new plugs but thats it

yeah, i just changed plugs and they were very carbon covered, one cylinder may have oil in it, i feel like its misfiring but the ecu has no misfire codes..
it also jumps back and forth between 1k rpms and 1700ish when in park... idle is fine when in D4 while stopped

Help
My sisters friend is having this same issue with having to let off the accelerator to get the car to shift on the highway. I see alot of post about this but no post saying what is actually causing it or how to fix it. Was there something I missed? Is there a way to fix this or a definite reason why this is happening?

This thread is pretty confusing with different folks asking questions. Can you start a new thread and give us some information about the vehicle. Any work done on the car. Also check for codes with an obd2 scanner or obd1 method depending on the vehicle.
