Default 2017 6 speed auto trans

Hi All,
New (very recent) owner of 2016 Accord EXL V6 w/ 6 speed automatic. The car has 104K and I purchased from a friend who had kept meticulous service records. I am draining the transmission and installing the prescribed 3.3 quarts of DW1. I have previously tried to check fluid levels and the dipstick is almost impossible to get an accurate read. So I indexed a plastic jug at 3 qt 10 0z and measured it twice. The drain pan emptied into jug, shows overfilled by an estimated 16-18 oz. My question is; can I drain beyond the 3.3 quarts (only about 30-40 minutes level on ground) or do I replace the amount that came out? The last service was at Honda shop and done about 10k ago, prior to my acquisition. Shifting has been a tiny bit wonky, hence the current service. My inclination is to go with the 3.3 qt and do some limited driving and see where things are.
The reason I get on these forums is the wealth of previous experience and knowledge. I would appreciate any and all feedback.
For the record, I had a (also recently acquired) 2007 Odyssey van w/ same drive train and it shifted similarly at first and got much better after 3 cycles of DW1 drain and fill. Did the timing belt,WP, valve cover gaskets, and valve adjustments, among many other repairs. Not bragging, just illustrating skill set.
Thx,
JFO
