When it's time to buy tires, check out TireRack.com for the owner surveys & test results. Look for stuff about tires getting more noisy as they wear out. Some kinds of tires tend to do that more than others.

Accord1224

How did you like the 2013, was it a major improvement noise wise?

Honda may have changed to Michelin's in 2013 but the ones i have on the car are really noisy as noted in previous posts.

Honda America won't own up to anything, i tried that route already. If they did it would cost them millions in repairs on sound absorbing materials and quieter tires. Easier just to blow it off, they still make plenty of money that way.

Greed is good.

The road noise is unbearable on some roads in my 2012 Accord EX-L. I came from a BMW X5 and traded down to an Accord. I will never purchase a Honda again. I enjoy driving my fathers 2010 Chevy Cobalt. IMO it is a better car than the accord. The Cobalt stickered for 10Gs less than the accord. I bought the Honda based on its reputation, but I believe new Hondas are being pushed out of the factory too quick and Honda doesn't care about what they produce.

If I were trading up from a BMW X5, i would have probably leaned more towards Acura, than Honda. Maybe a TL? Thats like saying my Corvette is way faster than my camaro. Not similar products, even if you do get a EX-L V6. In my 07 EX-L the road noise is nearly non existant, and I dont get what they did in 08 to make the gen 8's so noisy? Sounds like a lack of sound deadning material, or very cheap material? I have yet to test drive the 9th gen(2013) but plan to in the future. Is it possible the suspension is cheap in the gen 8's (by gen 8's i mean 08-12)

I understand, that's why I compared it to a Cobalt. I would have been happy going from a X5 to a Cobalt. The Cobalt is a quite and comfortable car. The Accord Active Head Restraint, makes it completely uncomfortable.

This is my first Japenese car. I wasn't going to go to Acura and find out I hate the non-German vehicle at a 40K price tag.

I compare my Mustang GT to an M3. I am very happy I purchased the Mustang. BMW are great don't get me wrong, but when I am driving 30K miles a year, I want to reduce my losses by purchasing cheaper cars.

It all boils down to car companies trying to increase EPA numbers required by the feds and consumers. Newer cars are built lighter to accomplish this. Sad fact of the times.
