What additive did you use? Lucas? My brother had a '89 Chevy truck around 225,000 miles and never rebuilt his motor and he swears by Lucas' products! I thinkyou deserve a congrats on getting the car to pass smog, I definitely know how much a pain it is to get older cars to pass!

I used RESTORE and added like 60 percent of Lucas in it and that definately rose my compression up and let me set my timing down to 10 degrees (it ran sluggish tho). Right after passing smog i rose it up another 15 degrees and it runs great that way! This is my pre-test. .in the real test the numbers were still going down! I am really surprised at how low those numbers are, this car is old lol Heres a secret guys, use BlueSky fuel additive. .that is why you see my numbers down

Great! I'm glad it passed, it's amazing what a small advance in timing will do.... not to mention I'll bet the car starts a lot easier with it set to normal.... Like I said though you need to start saving for a rebuild or prepare to trade it off....

yeah the fix is temporary, im planning to run it until it dies and then drop a 7M GE in it. These cars are fun to drive

Not bad...7M GE are pretty darn reliable but you gotta change the head gasket and use a higher torque setting...just my 2 cents.

Turbo or non-turboed?

funny that you say that cuz my friends head gasket just went out too. .his car was shutting off on him and then they checked their oil and had water in it. .if i were to get the 7M turbo i would have to switch my tranny but if i go NA 7M i wouldn't. .well see
