Default Transmission noise when shifting into gear

I have a 2008 Honda Accord V6 (automatic), that when we shift from reverse to drive the transmission stalls a bit and then shifts into gear and you hear a metallic click. I have taken it to the dealer and they have said that its normal…. but it doesn’t sound normal. PLEASE HELP!!!!

How many miles on this vehicle? Any transmission maintenance?

A short (1 sec or less) pause is probably OK. A long (4-5 sec) pause would be a cause for concern and defninitely not normal.

Noise can occur if idle speed is high when shift occurs. But if idle is < 1000 rpm when shift occurs, I would not expect noise. Possible motor mount damage can cause noise when shifting automatic trans.

good luck
