Default 04 accord, 02 heater sensor circuit malfunction

I had a light come on in my wikes 04 accord. It looked like an engine. I put my OBDII scanner on it and it gave me an message that the "02 Heater Sensor Circuit Malfunction, Bank 1/Sensor 2". Can anyone tell me what this means and what may have caused it to come on?

Thanks
Hank

I believe that is your O2 sensor after the cat converter is indicating a failure..... is the car under warranty?

No, it no longer under warranty. How hard is this to replace? What would cause this sensor to "go off"?(for the lack of better words)

There is actually a little heater inside the Sensor to get it hot so it can read correctly.
There is no fix other than sensor replacement, before throwing a new sensor at it be sure you have voltage to the heater circuit at the plug.
4cyl? V-6?

ORIGINAL: HankR

No, it no longer under warranty...
'Certain emmissions components' carry a much longer warranty than the 36/36000 overall warranty. Check the warranty booklet to see if the O2 sensors are covered.

under the car you'll find the cat (enlarged canister looking thing in the middle of the exhaust pipe) right behind the cat towards the back of the car should be the sensor sticking out, Fairly easy to replace but kind of a spendy little part (around $100.00 I think....) check for power going to it and check out if you have extended emissions coverage....
