Replace the o-ring before going with a new oil pump and that...you should be fine

You cannot install them in too far. They will eventually bottom out. They should be inserted until they bottom out.

Thanks man.

So is the consensus with anyone else that the oil pump/balance gear sets don't develop leaks and need to be replaced with the timing belt? This is a car with 160k. Feedback from as many people would be helpful. It's just an almost $300 item that I'd like not to have to purchase. So far I have one person here that says no and a dealer that stocks them because they do leak. Not much to go on.
