Honda Accord '88 wont start when warm please help!
So i have a old Honda Accord its a 1988 and has been running for EVER with no problems...out of no where it started last summer where it would start just fine when the engine was cold...but after running if you shut it off you whould have to wait like a minute.
Now it has been siting along side our hose under a tarp...if you walk over to it it will start right up no problems! just like a champ!
but after the engine is all warm and you shut it off it will not start and it seams you have to wait till its back to a sitting temp.
And if you try to start it while its warm it makes a *click* noise...and the battery is working and everything.
any advice would totally rock!
Thanks In advance!

I like this gen Accord
Do you have a volt meter? When this happens, check the voltage at the starter. Big cable should be ~12.5v. The small wire should read ~12v when the key is turned to start....let us know what you find and we can go from there.
EDIT: I moved this to Gen Tech.

With only ~8v on both, either the battery or the cables are in need to attention.
Pull the battery and take it to a parts store where they can test it. Before re-installing it, be sure to clean the ends of the cables, not just the ends on the battery but the other end(s) as well.

Ok so now that youve made us all feel like retards...the battery had a bad cell that was causing not to operate when it got warm.
So we replaced the battery and it runs like a champ.
But i have one more question...Our honda has just started revving...like at a red light it was automatically rev...any ideas?
PS. thanks a ton for your help!!!!!

Hey, that was NOT what I was trying to do...
Is the battery light on? Either way be sure the alt is putting out the correct voltage-do you have a volt meter? Are the cables on the battery clean and tight?
Does it do this all the time or just when hot/cold (engine temp)?
I REALLY do like this gen (got three and have had more). I'm in the "grey hair" group that worked/drove these
and still do.

Ok so now that may not be a problem....So it seamed like the battery fixed it and it ran great for about a week...not it wont start at all.
its trying to turn over and all and now it wont even start when we jump it or charge the battery...
any idea?

And if I can, one or two more details on top of what PA asked.
Auto or manual.
DX, LX or LXi-or another way of getting to what I'm wanting to know, carb or fuel injected.
Also, once again, check the voltage to the starter.
