I press the lock button twice and it does honk. But when I use my key to open the door manually without unlocking the alarm does not go on. I want to turn the alarm on but don't know where to start. Do you have to enable this too?

On my 99 ex I had to program the remote. For the trunk, just keep pushing it constantly and eventually the trunk will pop open. Holding it didn't work for me, but constantly pressing it did. Hope that helps you out.

to test your alarm all you have to do is leave you window down about half way, wait about 1 min for the system to arm, reach in and unlock the door and then using the outside doorhandle OPEN THE CAR DOOR. The alarm should sound.

take your remote apart and wipe off the circuit board on the side that has the buttons and then reassemble. That should fix the problem, if not replace the remote.
