Rear Passenger Door Won't open from inside

Agreed.

So I got some time and went into the door panel. You were right, took zero time to get it off. 3 screws and then I popped it out with a panel tool.

I immediately noticed that the lever was still attached to the cable. What was wrong was that the cable was not held in place correctly by the bracket (on the back side of the lever) as it must have slipped out somehow. So the lever action was pulling both the thin inner cable (which actually pulls the latch mechanism) and the outer tubing (which needs to be stationary) -- hence no action down at the latch.

I snapped the cable housing back into the bracket making the lever only pull the cable and poof, the latch works again. Entire process took about 20 minutes.

I still plan on going back in to replace the lever handle itself as the "chrome" sticker plating is bubbling on that handle for some reason. As I go back in, I may take more pics. Thanks for the help thus far.

Is the cable broke or just the plastic around it?

Either way, you might be better off replacing the cable. I'd guess ~$15 from the dealer?
