Default Stuck in park, no back-up lights

Hi everyone, I'm a new member and would love to get your take on a problem I'm having with my 2008 Honda Accord Coupe LX automatic. The other day I went to shift into reverse and I could not shift out of park. I unlocked the gear shift and then noticed the 'R' for reverse was not lit up on the dash and my back-up/reverse lights are not working. Also, when I shifted back into park and went to exit the car, my automatic unlock for the doors was not working and I was unable to remove my key until I took out the fuse, (which was not blown), for the ignition key lock. (The auto door lock does work when I shift into gear.) All my fuses are fine, I checked them in the car and under the hood. I was wondering if it is the shift solenoid, but would that affect the back-up lights and the key lock? Any ideas?

Check the driver's side under-dash Fuse No. 5 (7.5A).

Hi redbull-1, thank you for your response. I already checked the fuses and they are all fine.

Looking at the diagram, it seems that all your symptoms are common with the drivers multiplexer (MICU), just for giggles, disconnect your batter for about 15 minutes, make sure you have your radio and/or navigation codes, then reconnect and see what happens.

Also check into your transmission range sensor. It may be going bad. Any codes?

That is unlikely to be the cause on the OP's vehicle.

Hi Jeff, (Dr. Drivability), thanks for responding. I'll try disconnecting the battery for 15 min. and let you know what happens. It's worth a try.

Hi BlackLX4, thanks for responding as well. I don't have any codes, but I'm going to try hooking it up this weekend to see if anything pops up on it. I'll check the range sensor as well. I'm guessing it's the shift solenoid, but waiting for more feedback before replacing it.

Try what Dr. D suggested. See this attached excerpt from a Honda Service News. You don't necessarily have to follow all the steps in this excerpt.

Just disconnect the battery cable and wait and little bit.
