A code 41 shouldn't cause a starting problem.

The timing light is pretty simple to use to verify spark. Just connect the light to the battery. Then hook up the induction pickup on the spark plug wire. The light should flash if you are getting enough spark.

If you have a working vehicle, you can try the timing light on there to get a feel of how it works.

In spite of the instructions for the timing light ("connect to the #1 plug wire)... Connect the pickup to all 4 plug wires one at a time. You're checking whether each plug has a good-enough spark.

When you actually use the light to time your engine, you'll use only the #1 wire.

Time for the update. Turns out it was a fuel issue. Fuel isn't supposed to be crystal clear I don't think. Lol. Put new fuel in it. Runs like a champ. Haha. Thought too much into that one I guess.
