Out here in Iowa the ethanol blend is the cheapest (89 octane). I usually go with the non ethanol blends and use 87 octane. I thought I recall someone else saying they were from Iowa?

No I don't. Prices didn't go up that much in my area (San Jose, CA).

that's called price gauging and a lot of stations got pretty major fines for it. Same thing happened with the cabs in NYC a few years ago when we had the east coast power outage ..... I think April of '05
